Principal Attorney Jennifer D. Ward
Jennifer Ward is the Principal Attorney and founder of Law Office of Jennifer D. Ward based in Austin, Texas. She started her first business in middle school, and she continues to advise business owners today. Jennifer’s practice focuses on employment law and general counsel services for small businesses and non-profits. She handles a range of legal issues from business formation, IP protection, and contracts, to non-competes to workplace disputes. She is licensed to practice in the State of Texas and the State of California. She has been a member of the Texas Bar College each year since 2015, an honorary society for lawyers recognized for high ethical standards and advanced legal training.
Jennifer was honored to be named one of Austin’s Top Attorneys in Business Law by Austin Monthly Magazine every year since 2020. Since 2022, she has also been recognized as a Top Attorney and Top Woman Attorney in Employment and Labor Law by Super Lawyers. In 2022 Jennifer was selected for the Travis County Women Lawyers President's Choice Award. In 2017 Eanes ISD recognized Jennifer for her volunteer service to the district with a Heroes Award, which is the highest honor given to non-staff members.
Jennifer’s legal career began in 2010, when she graduated from University of California, Davis School of Law with a Certificate in Public Interest Law. She participated in Moot Court and Appellate Advocacy, served as Research Assistant to Professor Lisa Pruitt, and was active in numerous organizations.
Prior to attending law school, Jennifer pursued a career in the Arts with the goal of becoming a music professor. She graduated cum laude from Rice University with a double major in piano performance and music history. She earned a Master’s of Music from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music in piano performance. She also founded a piano studio and worked as an independent music teacher for a number of years.
Jennifer is frequently asked to present to professional organizations, bar associations, and business groups. Her most recent speaking engagement was titled “Wearing the Many Hats of HR”. Jennifer stays active in several legal and community organizations. She serves as Secretary for the Westlake Chamber of Commerce and Eanes for Everyone. She has been on the Board of Travis County Women Lawyers’ Association since 2019, and she is currently the board member in charge of Sponsorships. In 2022, TCWLA honored her with the President's Choice Award. She served as Treasurer of the Austin Bar Association’s Solo and Small Firm Section from 2015 to 2018. In 2017 she served as Chairperson of the Austin Bar Association/AYLA 2017 Leadership Academy event called Artfest. She is also an active member of several bar associations in Austin and within the State Bar of Texas.
Jennifer moved to Austin in 2013, and there are so many things she loves about living here. When she is not practicing law or chasing after her kids, you will most likely find her cooking or exploring some corner of this great city.
Paralegal AJ Barnes
AJ Barnes is the first person you will meet when you contact our office!
AJ is a skilled paralegal who joined the firm in 2025. AJ is from Abington, Pennsylvania. He is a military veteran who served as a Petty Officer 2nd Class Gunner's Mate in the U.S. Navy from 2015-2019. He is also a graduate of Texas State University, where he earned a Master’s Degree in Legal Studies and a Bachelor's Degree in Philosophy.

Wendy Scarborough Paralegal & Office Manager
Wendy Scarborough bring so much energy to everything she does! She joined our law office in 2026 and brings extensive legal experience, specialized education, and local leadership to the firm.
Wendy is from New Orleans, LA and moved to Austin in 1989. Wendy is an LSU graduate in Paralegal Studies. Her experience includes personal injury, oil and gas, and family law. She attended nursing school to receive additional training to become a medical paralegal to aid in personal injury cases.
Wendy is an accomplished leader. She has served as a board member for the Capital Area Paralegal Association. As a board member for Association of Records Managers and Administrators, she has offered her expertise as a mentor, membership chair, and contributor for articles on records retention, privacy, and information governance. Wendy has served on various committees, including education and conference event planning. She has established a high-trust network with area leaders in the industry, and she was asked to join the Chairmans Circle.
Wendy stays active outside of work as well. Her personal hobbies include dance, ballet, choreography and hiking along the beautiful trails in Austin.
